Proxy is an application that stands between client and server as a point through which all network traffic flows. Proxies change the content of the network traffic according to what user requests. Some proxies allow chaining. That means between client and server there can be multiple proxies connected to each other.

There are two basic kind of proxies in QuakeWorld:

  • Player and spectator connection - Qizmo and FTEQTV offer this feature
  • Mass match observing - EZTV and FTEQTV offer this feature, Qizmo offers this feature too, but on a low quality and comfort so it's deprecated and slowly replaced.

Other old and no longer used proxies:

  • Cheapo
  • NF-Proxy
  • ProxyLite
